STORIES FROM AFRICA
Where We Work
Kenya

Before LIA was registered as an organization, the original vision was first piloted by our founder Dr. Florence Muindi and her husband Festus in Maasai land, Kenya in 1996. By the time they went to start the ministry in Ethiopia, some strategies for integrated care and wholistic ministries were already formed. After the launch of LIA in Ethiopia, Dr. Florence returned to Kenya in 2004, both to respond to recognized needs for wholistic ministry in the country, and to establish a base for LIA to facilitate reach into the countries in the region.

On-going projects include:

  • Church based wholistic projects with training of trainers and leadership development
  • Post-election crisis response - Kisumu, Kibera
  • Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (0VC) wholistic program - Makueni, Kisumu
  • Youth HIV/AIDS prevention and discipleship - Makueni, Thika, Nairobi
  • Dental health care and preventive program
  • Mobile eye-care clinic
  • Mathare Children Program with child education emphasis, Nairobi
